The Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee is known as the third committee in the United Nations General Assembly. It focuses on the examination of human rights questions, including reports of the special procedures of the Human Rights Council established in 2006, and plays an imperative role in discussing social issues worldwide.
The Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee tackles human rights, justice, and social equality issues. These directly reflect the goals of SDG 16, which aims to promote peace, strong institutions, and access to justice for all. SOCHUM works to foster global discussions that uphold and protect these values.
