Historical Dewan Rakyat
(1991) Wawasan 2020
Format: DR-MUN Standing Orders
Council Background
Dewan Rakyat is the legislative branch of the federal government in Malaysia and is responsible for passing, amending and repealing primary legislation.
(SDG 8) promotes sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. Following the aim to grow Malaysia into a fully economically dependent nation, with a two prong approach (in Malay “serampang dua mata”), target 8.3 directly prioritises development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalisation and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, including through access to financial services.
Agenda
(1991) Wawasan 2020
Wawasan 2020 (or Vision 2020) was an ideal introduced by Mahathir Mohamad, the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, during the tabling of the Sixth Malaysian Plan in 1991. The plan aims for Malaysia to develop into a high income, high technology, self-sufficient and industrialised nation by the year 2020: defining all social, political and economic aspects of Malaysian society for decades to come.
