Futuristic Crisis Council

The Colonisation of Trappist-1E

Format: HMUN-Crisis

Council Background

A Futuristic Crisis Council (or Committee) is a fast-paced Model United Nations (MUN) simulation set in a future, hypothetical scenario rather than historical or current events, requiring delegates to solve unprecedented, evolving conflicts. These committees focus on creative problem-solving, strategic planning, and rapid response to ongoing crises.

SDG 13

SDG 13 (Climate Actions) targets to take urgent actions to combat climate change and minimise its impact on human daily life. Based on Target 13.2, this SGD primarily aims to integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning. The agenda of this council pairs suitably with this target, bringing nations around the world together to prevent pollution using their knowledge, policies and planning.

Agenda

The Colonisation of Trappist-1E

It is 3003. 973 years ago, humanity was supposed to fulfil the 17 SDGs set forth 15 years before by the United Nations; a task that remained unfulfilled until the date was pushed back repeatedly, until the goal became obsolete. Governments of the world began to realise the imminent consequences of their past inaction. The effects of climate change kept ravaging the Earth further, taking its toll on ecosystems both on land and sea, and wreaking mass havoc across the globe. Until one day, the world could ignore the issue no longer. After some time, humans have decided to relocate to Trappist-1E, in order to ensure the survival of the human race.
